Police K9 Dogs

German Shepherds have been used as Police K9 dogs  since 1859, though the real development of trained dogs for police work began in 1890s Germany. Ever since, these capable dogs have helped police in numerous ways.

German Shepherds have a strong sense of smell, making them excellent for tracking scents, both on the ground or in the air. They track everything from illegal narcotics and explosive devices to missing persons or remains.

When needed, a police K9 dog will protect the officer, including attacking an aggressor. This dog often assists police with the chasing and capture of suspects.

German Shepherds love to train for police work. The agility and intelligence of this breed, and its ability to form strong bonds, make the German Shepherd one of the best breeds for police K9 dog needs.

Vom Banach’s K9 Dog breeding program is based on imported titled Schutzhund sires with DDR/Czech, and West German working bloodlines. This program produces the confident, intelligent, clear in the head police K9 dogs that pursue relentlessly and subdue efficiently while remaining sociable canine citizens.
